Jorge Zalszupin (1922-) is considered one of Brazil’s most important designers of the twentieth century. Zalszupin studied architecture at Bucharest’s École des Beaux Arts and worked as an architect in Paris after completing his studies.
In 1959, Zalszupin started the furniture firm L’Atelier in Sao Paolo, Brazil. His mission was to create a successful harmony between architecture and furniture design. Graceful lines, strong use of local woods and a combination of impeccable woodworking and classical detailing distinguish Zalszupin’s furniture. His designs stand as benchmarks of modernism to this day.
