Neal Small

Neal Small (1937-) opened his own design firm in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City in the 1960s. As one of the first proponents of plastic in design, he has been called the “Prince of Plastic.” Small is known for exploiting the specific properties of Plexiglas, Lucite, and acrylic and incorporating that into his distinctive designs.

Small’s work is included in collections at prestigious museums including the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Smithsonian Institution. Small lives and works as an artist in rural Maine.
