Robert Scott’s repertoire of unique, hand-sculpted pieces draws from his experience as an aircraft fitter where he honed his skills and developed a fierce eye for detail and precision. In 2006, Scott left a promising career in aviation in search of more adventurous climes, and spent the following years traveling much of Asia and New Zealand. Scott’s affinity with making was never lost but rather channeled on a creative platform instead; upon returning to the UK, Scott received his degree in Furniture Making, and in 2013 he founded his studio in his hometown of Preston, England.
Scott’s travels and experiences serve as great inspiration for his work. Organic, sinuous, and complex, his pieces may be appreciated as free standing sculptures but also as highly functional furniture objects that contribute to the “grey space” between art and design.
Through Todd Merrill Studio Contemporary, custom finishes and dimensionality may be accommodated when commissioning a bespoke piece by Robert Scott.
