Vladimir Kagan

Vladimir Kagan

Vladimir Kagan (b.1927) is one of the most prolific designers of the twentieth-century. Kagan began working in his father’s woodworking shop in 1947 and for the last sixty years is continuously reinventing himself. Kagan always wanted to make conversation pieces as much as furniture and he has achieved that a hundred times over by introducing a multitude of designs that we now consider icons of mid-century modern design. From the Barrel Chair in 1947 to the Rocking Chair in the 1950s and the Omnibus sectional sofas of the 1960s and beyond, Kagan’s designs are just as in demand today as they were when he first designed them.
