Samuel Marx Eight-Foot Sofa – Todd Merrill
An Eight-foot Sofa designed by Samuel Marx. USA, 1953. This sofa was commisioned for George and Sarah Erlich for their completely Marx designed home on South Deere Park Drive in Highland Park, IL. The piece decended through the family to the grand-daughter with full provenance and original photos available. The sofa has been reupholstered in Rose Cummings 100% smoke-green silk-velvet and piped in silk-satin. All original design details have been retained. The sofa features six luxurious down cushions on a sleek ultra-modern frame that “floats” on invisible casters. The sofa and pair of chairs can be seen in period photos of the Marx designed livingroom of the original Erlich home.
