Frances Elkins, Set of Six Laquered Loop Back Chairs, USA, c. 1950s
A set of six dining chairs by Frances Elkins. Elkins based her design on the eighteenth-century George II style of furniture. The pictured set was produced in the 1950s and retains its original rush seats and off-white, slightly grey paint. The original paint is chipped in places but is very charming. The tops of the chair legs are impressed with the numeral “6.”
