Niamh Barry’s Knotted II is a sculptural, illuminated expression of density through line and form. Composed of Barry’s signature mirror-polished stainless steel rings, hand-cut glass opal tiles, and powered by dimmable LEDs, the sinuous forms wrap around one another, creating various shapes and light levels. A dynamic work of art that perennially glows, Knotted II is experienced differently from every angle. The uniqueness of an evolving sculpture that interacts with the viewer and its environment is what renders the artist’s work so compelling. Barry’s repertoire highlights, both literally and figuratively, the various ways by which we can interpret light and darkness, negative and positive space, and human movement.
A bespoke version of Knotted II is available by commission, with custom dimensionality, materials, and finishes.
