Niamh Barry’s Knotted II is a sculptural, illuminated expression of density through line and form. Powered by dimmable LEDs and composed of Barry’s signature mirror-polished stainless steel rings and hand-cut glass opal tiles, the work’s sinuous forms wrap around one another, creating various shapes and levels of light. A dynamic work of art that perennially glows, Knotted II is experienced differently from every angle. The uniqueness of an evolving sculpture that interacts with the viewer and its environment is what renders the Barry’s work so compelling. The artist’s repertoire highlights, both literally and figuratively, the various ways by which we may interpret light and darkness, negative and positive space, and human movement.
A bespoke version of Knotted II is available by commission, with custom dimensionality, materials, and finishes.
