Robert Scott, Waiho, UK, 2015
Robert Scott’s most recent sculptural ash table, Waiho explores the relationship between user and object by inviting interaction through touch. Through hand-carved stack lamination and laminate bending, Scott has achieved sinuous and complex forms inspired by the fluid contours that result from erosive forces of wind and water on rock. To be experienced differently from every angle, Waiho is at once a unique table and a free standing sculpture; defying categorization, it exists in the grey space between art and design.
