Niamh Barry’s Binary makes reference to a system of two objects in space which are so close that their gravitational interaction causes them to orbit about a common center of mass. Made with Barry’s signature hand-formed bronze rings, the piece features opal glass tiles covering a strip of LED lights that emit a perennial warm glow. Experienced differently from every angle at which the viewer stands, Binary not only suggests movement, but elicits our own motion as we experience the piece from every angle. The pictured light sculpture is the the first of the Binary series, created within Niamh Barry’s commission-based program. A bespoke version of this piece may be made to order with custom dimensionality and finishes. Please contact [email protected] for details and pricing.
