Gary Magakis, Bronze and Steel Sculptural Low Table, USA, 2015
Gary Magakis’ blackened steel and textured bronze table reflects the sculptor’s distinct approach to creating bold and dense geometric forms that exude a Modernist elegance and buoyance. The unique low table is composed of asymmetrical geometric metal planes arranged in a way that allows the glass top to appear as if it were floating. The piece is at once a functional low table and a unique sculpture.
Inspired by Constructivism and Frank Lloyd Wright’s cantilevered rooms, Gary Magakis channels architectural elements in his work. Though the table’s geometric sections appear to have sharp edges, they are actually gracefully curvilinear. Magakis’ unique sculptural furniture was featured in the Financial Times’ How to Spend It in April of 2015.
As the artist works on a commission basis, custom dimensionality and finishes may be accommodated.
