FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

TODD MERRILL 20TH CENTURY AND STUDIO CONTEMPORARY EXHIBITING AT ART SOUTHAMPTON, JULY 25th – JULY 29th, 2013

July 8, 2013 New York, NY—Todd Merrill 20th Century and Studio Contemporary is honored to be exhibiting for the first time at Art Southampton, July 25th – July 29th, 2013. ArtSouthampon is an international contemporary and modern art fair taking place in the Hamptons at the peak of its season. Art Southampton is held on the grounds of the Southampton Elks Lodge adjacent to the Southampton Golf club. The preview will be held on the 25th of July, and the fair is open to the public from July 26th through July 29th.

At Art Southampton Merrill will be debuting the work of Molly Hatch, the newest artist to join Studio Contemporary. Hatch is a contemporary artist who treats ceramic plates as surfaces on which she paints figural and abstract scenes inspired by 18th and 19th century art. Hatch will be represented by her most recent work, “Quand on Aime, Tout est Plaisir: After Fragonard” which was recently on view at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in the exhibition “New Blue and White” (February 20- July 14, 2013).

Merrill will exhibit the best of his Studio Contemporary artists’ new work. The booth will feature a selection of works by Beth Katleman, including a new horizontal version of Katleman’s critically renowned and award-winning “Folly” (2010), “Demi-Folly” at 5.5’ H x 18’ W x 13” D, as well as two new wall-mounted reliefs “Sleeping Girl” (2013), “Hanging Girl” (2013), and two table-top sculptures “Leda” and (2013) and “Alice” (2013).

Creations from Jennifer Trask, “Vestige” series (2012), “Umi” and “Undergrowth” will hang alongside Niamh Barry’s “Apparent Magnitude” Chandelier/ Lighting Installation. The booth will feature an impressive, intricate new low table, “Over Easy” (2013) by the Yard Sale Project as well as an Enignum-series low-table (2011) from Joseph Walsh; an impressive “5-Drawer George” chest of drawers from Gareth Neal; and the “Mollusque” low-table from Marc Fish.

Works by Yard Sale Project, Joseph Walsh, and Gareth Neal feature prominently in Against the Grain: Wood in Contemporary Art, Craft, and Design at New York’s Museum of Arts and Design, open from March 19th to September 15th, 2013.
