Ron Seff

Ron Seff

Ron Seff (1934-1990) was a quintessential Manhattanite, living almost his entire life in the city.

Ron Seff opened his New York City workshop in 1968. Among his early patrons were legendary designers Michael Desantis, Mark Hampton, Robert Metzger, and Karl Springer. In the 1970s, Ron Seff worked with Karl Springer to fabricate many furnishings for the Springer collection.

Ron Seff’s contemporary designs are inspired by great Art Deco masters, Bauhaus aesthetics and modern sculptures. Each piece is crafted with extreme attention to detail and displays a timeless elegance. Seff has been credited with reviving the use of shagreen, lacquered goatskin and parchment, and straw, all popular Deco materials. Seff is also known for his distinctive use of metals and other exotic materials including mother of pearl, bone, rare woods, and various animal skins.

Todd Merrill Studio is the exclusive representative of Ron Seff’s vintage collection. The present selection features the artist’s original showroom models and prototypes, most dating back to the early 1980s. None of these designs will be produced again and most of the remaining works are the last from their original production series.
