Charles Hollis Jones

Charles Hollis Jones (1945-) is an American artist and designer who is recognized by the Smithsonian Institution for his pioneering use of acrylic and lucite. Born in Bloomington, Indiana, Jones moved to Los Angeles, California at the age of 16, founding CHJ Designs. At the time, acrylic and lucite were not commonly used as a materials for upscale furniture and art. Jones, recognizing their potential, began creating unique plastic pieces for some of the city’s most renowned showrooms.

Jones’ work has been featured in a number of museums and The Los Angeles Times has referred to him as a “pioneer in acrylic design.”
