Todd Merrill Studio began representing renowned UK-based designer Marc Fish in 2013. Fish has established himself as a designer to watch since founding his own studio practice nearly twenty years ago. His use of the finest timbers and veneers, his understanding of woodworking and metal fabrication, and his attention to detail set him apart from the standard cabinet maker, attracting the attention of designers, critics, and collectors worldwide. Fish has received two distinctions from City & Guilds in Furniture Making and Computer Aided Design. Additionally, Fish has been awarded four prestigious Guild Marks by The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers, one of the livery companies of London. In 2011 and in 2019, he was the recipient of the Claxton Stevens Award, the highest honor bestowed by The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers. He is now on the panel of judges for the Guild Mark awards.
Fish strives to transcend the barriers of art, design, sculpture, and furniture by seamlessly combining hand-cut wood veneers, poured and sculpted resin, and natural finishes, from bronze to squid ink. Exploring the Victorian obsession with natural history, these one-of-a-kind pieces are created through Fish’s incredible mastery of the most refined practices in micro stack-lamination today. While the curvilinear forms of Fish’s works harken back to Art Nouveau, his process pushes the limits of twenty-first century furniture design. His sublimely unique works possess a timelessness that could be found seamlessly in the most contemporary of settings to the most traditional.
As Fish only creates a few select designs per year, his work is in high demand. Custom designs and finishes may be requested.
