A large and impressive pair of four door consoles by Paul Evans from 1969. This pair from the original owner who commissioned them directly from the Evans Studio. Each with unique decoration. The exteriors heavily sculpted with large “rocks” and a multitude of unique decoration. The inside of each all in teal blue striated paint with a single drawer also done in sculpted bronze. The tops each with three panels of slate. Sculpted bronze is the proprietary technique developed by the Evans studio. The wood cases were covered in resin and hand-sculpted then sprayed with atomized bronze giving them a bronze skin which was then patinated with carbon and lacquered. This exact technique has not been replicated since. Pairs of large consoles by Paul Evans are exceedingly rare.
