Paul Evans Set of Five Welded-Steel Candlesticks – Todd Merrill
This rare set of five welded-steel candlesticks are an example of Evans’ early studio work and most closely relate to the technique that he used on the Forged-Front consoles in the early to mid 1960s. Each stand is unique and features one, two or three candle supports.
Evans kept these candlesticks in his New York office as a memento of his early work. It was here, in the late 1970’s, that a client saw and admired them in his office. At this time Evans was working on a major installation in the client’s Maryland home and gave them to her as a gift upon completion of the project.
