An incredibly rare, important, and very early sculpture by Paul Evans, 1957. Beautifully gilded steel base supporting seven welded steel arms, each one terminating in an abstract form indicative of the motifs Evans would later be renowned for. This unique piece created specifically for a clients home that Phillip Lloyd Powell and Evans were collaborating on. Designed to be displayed on an extension emanating from a custom sideboard.
Documented with original receipt and sketches by Evans and Powell. Evans receipt is on “Sturbridge, MA” stationary, hand amended to read “New Hope, PA”; the earliest of Evans’ New Hope work.
