Evans’ pierced-front pieces are very rare and were made early on in his studio practice. This exquisite cabinet features a bi-fold two-door front made of welded, pierced steel screens highlighted by ivory panels beneath the perforations. Subtle autumnal paint colors give the piece a warm hue. The sides of the cabinet are made of patinated shingled steel and the cabinet’s striking red interior reveals an adjustable shelf for storage or bar use.
This custom cabinet was acquired from its original owner who, in the early 1960s, purchased it directly from the Evans studio in New Hope, Pennsylvania. All finishes are original, including the steel brackets which bolt to the wall. Excellent condition.
