Despite the accessible size and lively surface decoration, very few of this style cabinet were produced by the Paul Evans Studio. With the same welded steel frame in a radial diamond pattern and patchwork steel sides, each were individually embellished with braised brass decoration, gilded edges, and a variety of finishes such as painted, patinated, or applied pigmented enamel.

According to Evans Studio artisan, Dorsey Reading, “we probably made a half dozen of these cabinets.” To date, only one other cabinet of this design has come up for public sale, further empathizing the rarity of this unique piece.
