Born in Germantown, Pennsylvania, Phillip Lloyd Powell (1919-2008) began crafting furniture during his adolescent years. Creating some of the most important works of the mid-century studio furniture movement, Powell’s signature carved wood cabinets, consoles, chairs, and dining tables are some of the most sought-after pieces from that era. His sinuous, textural furniture often references natural forms.
