Arturo DiModica Steel and Bronze Sculpture Circa 1980s – Todd Merrill
A steel and bronze table top abstract sculpture by Arturo DiModica. Signed “DiModica 80-81 1/5” indicating this was one of five pieces made. The fascinating interlocking abstract biomorphic shapes are mounted on a black granite base with raw edges.
Born in Sicily in 1941, Arturo DiModica is best known for installing his bronze sculpture “Charging Bull” near the New York Stock Exchange in lower Manhattan in 1989 at his own expense. Initially impounded by police, the sculpture was permanently installed in its original spot as a result of public outcry at its removal. He resides in New York City.
