Chris Rucker, Hammered Bronze Pendant Light, USA, 2017
Todd Merrill Studio presents Chris Rucker’s unique lighting made of recycled construction materials.
The Hammered Bronze Pendant Light is created from bronze sheeting that has been cut into individual diamond shapes, bent, and spot-welded together to make a cylindrical form. Each facet of the pendant has been hand hammered giving the piece a unique texture. The open star pattern of the pendant casts a subtle glittering, star-shaped reflection.
Blurring the boundaries between the durable and disposable and the delicate and permanent, Rucker challenges notions of form and function.
In 2016, Rucker was the first American artist invited to create an installation at the Made in Cloister art and design center in Naples, Italy. His work resides in the collections of Steven Klein, Dennis Freedman, Neville Wakefield, Camilla Nickerson, and Madonna.
As the artist is available on a commission basis, custom dimensions may be accommodated.
