Big George, a monumental oak chest-on-chest, pays homage to historic design through new innovations in wood carving technology. The unique piece builds upon the designer’s longstanding interest in referencing Georgian furniture styles. The meticulous partnership between new technology and traditional craftsmanship in Big George reawakens interest in the historic while offering a fresh approach to contemporary design.

Featured in public and private collections worldwide, Neal has both literally and figuratively shaped a new era in design and craftsmanship. Currently, Neal is collaborating with Zaha Hadid on a line of innovative sculptures inspired by ancient vessels. Neal’s 5-Drawer George was part of the critically-acclaimed exhibition, “Against the Grain: Wood in Contemporary Art, Craft, and Design,” hosted by the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, NY; the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and the Bellevue Arts Museum in Bellevue, Washington. His George III Chest resides in the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. In 2016, Big George was exhibited at the distinguished Winter Antiques Show in New York, NY.
