Eternal Forest Low Table by Philip and Kelvin Laverne. USA, c.1970s

An exceptional and rare low table by Philip and Kelvin Laverne with an intricate design of trees, circa 1970, USA. The table is constructed from thin layers of bronze over pewter and has a racetrack-shaped top sitting on three-point curved supports. The design on the surface is hand-cut through a layer of bronze into a layer of pewter. The top is specially treated in a method innovated by the LaVernes that oxidizes the metal and produces a distinctive colorful patina. This table has its original paper label and is signed by the LaVernes.
