“Opium Den” Sofa and Low Table by James Mont USA 1963

Upholstered one-Arm sofa rests on a long platform in silver leaf over orange and black primer on oak with antiqued lacquer finish. The effect is gilded bronze. Burned in mark on underside of sofa James Mont Designs. Listed on Mont’s Contract Specifications.

Identical in form to the one listed in Eric Phillip’s October 2004 Exhibition page 51.

New York, designed ca 1948, this piece executed in 1963 with custom finish for Ellis Orlowitz The opium den low table accompanies the opium den sofa in matching silver leaf over orange and black primer on oak with antiqued lacquer finish. Listed on Mont’s Contract Specifications.
