Todd Merrill Home Southampton, New York
Todd Merrill’s Design Lab is a 9,000 square foot, three-floor home built into a hillside at the highest point in Shinnecock Hills. Created in the styles of Horace Gifford and Gwathmey, it is a sublime example of Long Island Modernist architecture offering panoramic ocean and bay views.
The house was gut renovated by Merrill and features an all grey-on-grey color scheme, matte washed grey reclaimed oak floors throughout, grey French limestone and slate. An all curved double kitchen designed by Merrill follows the echoes the roundness found within the space such as the center spiral stairwell.
The home serves as a livable museum, and an ideal setting for Todd Merrill Studio’s vintage 20th century and Studio Contemporary collections. Revolving installations of these works, both a current inventory and Merrill’s personal collection, take place throughout the year. The Design Lab is available to clients for viewing by appointment.
