A Welded Steel Sculptural Menorah by Paul Evans, USA, circa 1960’s.
An eight-prong sculptural Menorah in welded steel with rough, modeled finish in a decorative floral motif. According to Dorsey Reading, the manager of Evans’ studio, Evans created these pieces in response to enthusiastic demand from observant Jewish clients and sold them as Menorahs where appropriate, or as to secular clients as candleabra based on their aesthetic appeal. The piece has eight prongs and a ninth prong designed as a shamash (the holder intended for the ninth candle on a menorah).
