Paul Evans Sculpted Steel Wave-Front Console, USA, 1970. A rare small size Paul Evans Wave-front console in sculpted steel. This console is signed and dated Paul Evans, 1970 ECLES – probably crediting one of the studio artists who may have contributed to the decoration. The Sculpted Steel consoles are the rarest and most sought after studio pieces made by Paul Evans with less than 75 known to be made – all unique and all of different sizes and decoration. The Wave-front design was even less produced than the more known Sculpted-front pieces with geometric grid designs. As such this is maybe the 6th to come on to the market in the past 10 years. This console has two wide doors 31 inches each and a total width of 62 inches. The console wall mounts to float — although custom base can be made. The coloration has not been scene before featuring bold golden ochre, deep red and turquoise blue. The sculpted waves have real movement and are bold and deep. Interior is red striate with gold felt shelves.  A collector’s piece.
