Eternal Forest Coffee Table by Philip and Kelvin Laverne, USA, 1970

An exceptional and rare coffee table by  Philip and Kelvin Laverne with an intricate design of trees. The table is constructed from thin layers of bronze over pewter.  The biomorphic-shaped top sits on  simple bamboo legs. The design on the surface is hand-cut through a layer of bronze into a  layer of pewter. The top is specially treated in a method innovated by  the LaVernes that oxidizes the metal and produces a distinctive colorful  patina. This table is signed by the  LaVernes.
