Molly Hatch, Power, USA, 2025
Power by celebrated ceramic artist Molly Hatch debuts at our Salon Art and Design fair. Inspired by a historic Christopher Dresser vessel, Power is a richly detailed, small-scale ceramic wall installation composed of hand-thrown, hand-painted plates adorned with 23K gold leaf. The work references Hatch’s piece Ducere, part of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts’ permanent collection and now on view in their newly reopened Decorative Arts and Design Pavilion.
In Power, Hatch reclaims and reimagines historical design through a contemporary feminist lens—asserting her voice in a traditionally male-dominated art historical canon. Her use of decorative motifs and materials associated with domestic labor challenges conventional hierarchies and redefines the relationship between “craft” and “fine art.”
Hatch’s ceramic installations are held in major institutions including the High Museum, Sarasota Art Museum, Newark Museum of Art, and across six of Peter Marino’s Tiffany & Co. Blue Box Cafés globally.
