Functional and sculptural, each column serves as a dimensional abstract expressionist painting. A combination of paint and pigmented concrete, creates a dynamic impasto, populated by incised and gilded etchings. Rurak uses freeform splashes and stains, applied by hand, to achieve the unique patina on the central steel medallion. The etched drawings that are repeated in his work, both on the steel and the table’s base, are a language of symbols personal to Rurak and akin to an ever-changing signature.
