The Lava Dining Table by Draga & Aurel is at once minimal in form and striking in presence. A concrete base anchors the work with depth and presence while the resin top adds a sense of levity and near weightlessness. The base’s conical silhouette is subtly textured through a sea salt treatment that evokes the eroded surface of travertine. Rising above, a thick, circular top of translucent resin in a deep green hue captures and refracts light within its depths, creating a dynamic interplay between opacity and luminosity.

Founded in 2007 in Como, Italy, Draga & Aurel bring a multidisciplinary approach to their work, informed by backgrounds in textile design and fine arts. Their practice synthesizes influences ranging from Minimalism’s pared-back volumes to the retro-futurist language of Space Age design and the perceptual intrigue of Optical Art. Entirely fabricated by hand in their Como atelier, the Lava collection exemplifies their ongoing exploration of transparency and materiality, resulting in pieces that are both sensual and rigorously composed.
