Gary Magakis, Blackened Steel Ledges Console, USA, 2017
Gary Magakis’ unique blackened steel Ledges Console reflects the sculptor’s distinct approach to creating bold and dense geometric forms that exude a Modernist elegance and buoyance. At once a functional object and a work of art, the Ledges Console is designed to suggest weightlessness while retaining a muscular visual power.
Inspired by Constructivism and Frank Lloyd Wright’s cantilevered rooms, Gary Magakis channels architectural elements in his work. Though at first glance the console’s sections appear sharp, they are actually gracefully curvilinear. Magakis’ unique sculptural furniture was featured in the Financial Times’ How to Spend It in April of 2015.
As the artist works on a commission basis, custom dimensionality and finishes may be accommodated.
