James Mont, Verre Églomisé Screen, USA, c. 1950’s
A magnificent mirrored-panel James Mont screen done in 1950 in Mont’s Chinese-modern style blended details from his Turkish roots. Each panel is hand finished with an Ottoman inspired verre eglomise design in gold metal leaf then backed with a white metal leaf. The mirrors are framed in Mont’s smoked-silver metal-leaf technique and formed with pierced bases and pagoda-style tops.
