Markus Haase, Catena Series Chandelier, DE, 2025
German artist Markus Haase unveils new sculptural bronze and onyx lighting works, including a monumental chandelier that harnesses two pendant designs that extend his exploration of light, movement, and materiality alongside a metamorphosed version of his signature Circlet chandelier reimagined as a table and/or floor lamp. Each showcasing his unparalleled ability to merge artistry, craftsmanship, and technical innovation. The hand-cast and hand-sculpted bronze chandelier, suspended from a series of sculptural bronze chain links, embodies Haase’s signature blend of fluid movement and material precision. The hanging pendants expand upon this vocabulary — one composed of an intricate hand-cast bronze frame forming a mesmerizing organic web, and the other carved in luminous white onyx that diffuses a soft, ethereal glow.
Each component is meticulously crafted by hand, a process that demands an exceptional degree of skill and sensitivity to material. Working directly with bronze, stone, and wood, Haase approaches each medium as a sculptor rather than a fabricator, shaping solid matter into forms that appear to ripple, flow, and breathe. This union of physical labor and aesthetic intuition defines Haase’s practice and sets him apart as one of the foremost sculptor-designers of his generation.
As Haase works on a commission basis, custom designs may be requested.
